This clause is mainly applicable to the Top Management of the Organization. In the Quality Management System the Top Management is playing vital role. This system cannot be successful without commitment of the Top Management.
5.1 Leadership and Commitment
# Taking accountability for the effectiveness of the implemented Quality Management System in the organization.
Top Management needs only to see the results of implemented QMS in the organization. Systematically running and improvement in the Organization is the basic need of the Top Management. E.g. On time delivery of the material, maintaining quality of the material, innovation in the existing product is the main expectations of the Top Mgt.
# Ensuring the Quality Policy and Quality Objectives are established and that is compatible with the context and strategic direction of the Organization
Every Organization works on the decided policy and Top Mgt expecting that his employees should follow this. Every organization is working for fulfill the needs of the customer and satisfy to him. Therefore all objectives should be according to this and achieved as per decided targets to achieve the ultimate result to satisfy the customer.
# Ensuring the integration of the Quality Management System requirements into the Organization’s business processes.
QMS will get effective in the Organization when it will get integrate with existing process. Otherwise it would be challenging to the Top Mgt and their employees to fulfill the requirements. Entire organization needs a commitment to follow the requirements of the standard in existing process and do not keep requirements on the paper only.
# Promoting the use of the Process approach and risk based thinking
Proper process approach is required when we are going to implement the requirements, even risk based thinking means identify the potential risks of the processes according to the needs and expectations of the interested parties should be considered. This approach will give the desired results, otherwise only documentation doesn’t fulfill the requirements or not give the desired results.
# Ensuring that the resources needed for the Quality Management System are available
Before starting to implement the requirements or start to work to achieve the desired goals, each process needs to ensure that required resources are available. You can’t move along with unavailability of the resources. It will show failure of the process every time and can be demotivated to the process owner.
# Communicating the importance of the Quality Management and of conforming to the Quality Management System requirements
Communication is playing important role in each field. Analysis of the implemented system with the cause and corrective action in the process is needs to communicate frequently. It will increase the interest and can encourage to the process owner. ‘WHY’ we are doing this is needs clarity otherwise organization could not achieve the desired results.
# Ensuring that the Quality Management System achieve its intended results
Frequently review of the QMS will show the reasons of the failure and ask for the action plan to correct the process. You need to take proper corrections to remove the reasons of the failure. Each reason will increase the possibilities to strengthen the method or procedure. Frequently review will ensure us that whether it is giving intended results or needs correction in the process.
# Engaging, directing and supporting persons to contribute to the effectiveness of the Quality Management system
Involvement of the process owner, their HOD and Top management to achieve the desired results will give the effectiveness of the QMS. Commitment is required from all during the implementation. Half commitment will not work. Engagement and proper direction and time to time support by each level will give effectiveness of the QMS.
# Promoting improvement
Continuous improvement in the process is necessary to get the effectiveness of the implemented system. You need to make a plan for the next improvements and should be check frequently whether it’s achieved or unachieved.
# Supporting other relevant management roles to demonstrate their leadership as it applies to their areas of responsibility.
Support from the Top Management to the HOD’s and supervisor of the Organization during the implementation is essential to achieve the desired results.
5.1.2. Customer Focus
Top management should be give pure commitment to fulfill the requirements of the customer. Leadership and commitment both is essential from the Top management at each time during the process. When we are moving ahead by implement the requirements of the standard will show us many reasons of the failure. This time commitment and leadership only give strength to remove the reasons from the organization
# Statutory and regulatory requirements are determined, understood and consistently met
When customer is giving some order to you, maybe this include with some statutory and regulatory requirements. Whether this need permission from government authorities. You need to understand properly and needs to check whether you are fulfilling this consistently. Otherwise it would be critical to get the orders from the particular customer and fulfill his requirements.
# The risk and opportunities that can affect conformity of the products and services and the ability to enhance customer satisfaction are determined and addressed.
Potential risk which can be affect or some risks which you have been faced previously during comply the requirements of the customer both are important while identify the opportunities. Risk assessment of the potential and previous risk with identifying the opportunities for satisfying the customer will give effectiveness. Frequently review of the Risk and opportunities of the process will give conformity of the product and services which you are providing to the customer. This approach will enhance the satisfaction of the customer.
#The focus on enhancing customer satisfaction is maintained
Analysis of the customer satisfaction is important for each organization as each organization is working for the customer only. How you can fulfill the requirements and get the satisfaction from the provided product or services, review of this both points are important while you are doing review the things. You can use many methods to verify the satisfaction. Asking through some questions, asking through the forms, phone calls and emails will be help to get the current level of the satisfaction. Frequently analysis of the satisfaction level will show you the results. You should focus on the enhancing the satisfaction every time this practice will give improvement in the process and increase the sales growth of your company.

Top Management should establish one policy for their organization
which is appropriate to the customer requirements, provide frameworks for setting the quality objectives, and includes commitment of the continual improvement in your organization even commitments to satisfy the applicable requirements of the customer and interested parties.
After finalizing this policy this needs to communicate
within the organization by displaying in the organization as documented form, provide awareness of the all employees of this policy and should be discuss and evaluate time to time.

5.3 Organizational roles and responsibilities and authorities
Top Management should define the roles and responsibilities of the each designation by providing some authorities to them, which should be relevant to the requirements of the Quality Management System. Can be fulfilling the requirements of the customer, support to achieve the desired results and giving assurance that your organization will enhance the customer satisfaction.
